Whatever It Takes

Whatever it takes to draw closer to You Lord.
That's what I'll be willing to do.
Whatever it takes for my will to break.
That's what I'll be willing to do.

Oh these words touched my heart and soul yesterday!  During the altar call in church my friend and pastor's wife sang these powerful, beautiful and challenging words.

But the question is, am I really willing to do whatever it takes?  Am I willing to set aside pride, stubbornness, and my way to draw closer to God?  Am I willing to put my bad habits to rest?  Am I willing to go where He says and do what He says?

Daniel was willing to risk being eaten by lions to follow God.  Jeremiah was alone, in captivity, beaten, stoned and risked death to follow God.  Esther risked her safety and the lives of her people to follow God.  I could go on and on with people in the Bible who did whatever it took to follow God.  They all realized that drawing closer to Him was so worth it.

"Come near to God and He will come near to you." James 4:8

God wants us to be near to Him and follow Him completely.  He desires that we put our trust in Him.  Is worry and fear holding us back?  Is laziness in the way?  Maybe we put a relationship with someone over drawing closer to God.  What is in your way?  What is holding you back from digging deeper with your Creator?

I just want to follow God.  I am tired of caring what others think of this crazy 'Jesus freak.'  I am tired of putting things in front of God.  I just want to put myself out there for God to use how He wants.  I want to draw closer to Him right now and every day.  I feel desperate for more of Him.

Today, pray and ask God to reveal to you how you can grow closer to Him.  Ask God what you need to do to draw to Him in a new way.  Be willing to do whatever it takes.

Sweet Blessings~

  2. Thanks for this. It is a reminder that no matter how close we are to Jesus, we can always get closer and the feeling of that closeness makes us want to all things for Him. So many people need this closeness, me for one. Thanks.

  3. Wow. What a great way to start the week! I agree...Amen!;) When we accept Christ we are making the decision to follow him wherever he goes and to do whatever he requires. Complete submission to his will. "Your will God, not mine!"

  4. These 2 questions prompt and move me each day... "Am I willing to set aside pride, stubbornness, and my way to draw closer to God? Am I willing to put my bad habits to rest?" It's a process and fortunately He goes with us all the way. When I don't choose Him He shows me how to get back on track... when I do choose Him He blesses me beyond what I ever thought! What a great and loving God we serve. Our Sunday School teacher last week said... A fanatic is just someone that loves Jesus more than you do! Wow... that was convicting! I am so with you let's be Jesus Freaks together :)
    Blessings,
    Heidi

  5. I don't want my pride, laziness or anything else to get in the way of drawing closer to God. This seems to be a common theme the past two days. God is calling us out - closer to Him. He is jealous for our full devotion.

  6. What a wonderful reminder for a Monday morning! Jenifer, as you so eloquently stated : "Today, pray and ask God to reveal to you how you can grow closer to Him. Ask God what you need to do to draw to Him in a new way. Be willing to do whatever it takes." Wow... That's EXACTLY what I pray for regularly! Thank you so much for this!
